How to download and install Parallax

Binary Downloads

Download pre-built binaries from GitLab Releases:

PlatformArchitectureDownload
Linuxamd64parallax-linux-amd64
Linuxarm64parallax-linux-arm64
macOSamd64parallax-darwin-amd64
macOSarm64 (Apple Silicon)parallax-darwin-arm64
Windowsamd64parallax-windows-amd64.exe

After downloading, make the binary executable and move it to your PATH:

bash
chmod +x parallax-linux-amd64
sudo mv parallax-linux-amd64 /usr/local/bin/parallax

Build and Install from Source

Install Go 1.25 or newer, then use the complete checkout (including module-sdk):

bash
git clone https://gitlab.com/digitalxero/parallax.git
cd parallax
go install ./cmd/parallax

Add $(go env GOPATH)/bin to your PATH, or set GOBIN before installing. The repository uses a local SDK replacement, so versioned go install go.digitalxero.dev/parallax/cmd/parallax@latest is not supported.

For named artifacts, install Task and run:

bash
task build
# Output: ./build/parallax-<os>-<arch> (.exe on Windows)
task build GOOS=linux GOARCH=arm64
task build:all

Go remains a runtime requirement on the controller. Release binaries contain the matching module SDK source, and initial module builds may need network access to download Go dependencies. See prerequisites.

The controller is cross-compiled for the platforms above. Acceptance tests run on Linux containers. Required GitLab-hosted Windows jobs now cover native builds, selected portable tests, and a provisioned WinRM target; the first hosted pipeline result is pending. Native macOS runtime coverage is still unavailable.
